1. Define and identify common Bloodborne Pathogens and Other Potentially Infectious Materials (OPIM) and potential sources of exposure and occupational injuries.
2. Recognize workplace hazards associated with Bloodborne Pathogens in the pharmacy setting and methods to prevent the spread of infections caused by BBP, OPIM, and sharps injuries.
3. Recall and describe the components of an Exposure Control Plan, including employer provided Hepatitis B vaccination, immediate actions to take if exposed or injured, and reporting requirements.
4. Describe the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and identify situations and environments in which PPE is required.
5. Explain employee and employer responsibilities with respect to preventing the spread of bloodborne pathogens.
